A familiar challenge.
Windows normally sends external links to one default browser, even when you need a different browser or profile for a particular task.
SoftwareChoose the right browser for your next link
Use different browsers or profiles for different parts of your day. Browter adds a selection wheel to Windows link opening, so you can pick a destination for the next link or a short series of links. A fallback browser handles ordinary links, and optional recent-link history helps you find and reopen earlier addresses.

Browter is a Windows desktop application for people who use more than one browser or browser profile. Instead of changing the Windows default every time, you can choose a destination with a shortcut before opening a link. Supported profiles appear as separate choices, making it easier to use the browser session intended for work, personal browsing, or another task. Your fallback browser handles links you leave unselected.
Setup guides you through browser discovery, fallback selection, shortcut choices, and the Windows link-handler setting. A selection can apply to one link or remain active until its timeout. Optional recent links let you search addresses, copy them, and reopen them in a different configured browser; you can also clear or disable that history. Browter works with links handed to it by Windows or another app. Navigation inside browsers and embedded web views may remain in that app.

Choose a browser or supported profile for an external link while keeping a fallback for everyday opening.
Open the selection wheel with a shortcut and choose where your next link goes. Supported browser profiles can be separate choices, helping you send work and personal links to the browser session you intended.
Set a browser for links you do not redirect. Choose whether a selection applies to one link or lasts until a timeout, so occasional browser changes fit around your normal browsing routine.
Search links opened through Browter, copy an address, or reopen it in another configured browser. Keep 10, 20, or 50 recent entries, clear the list, or turn recent-link recording off.
Follow a five-step setup to find browsers, add supported profiles, choose a fallback, configure a shortcut, and open Windows Default Apps. You choose whether to make Browter your link handler and can revisit setup later.
Pause redirection to send links to your fallback browser. Gaming mode disables the wheel shortcut while links continue to open, helping you avoid triggering browser selection during another activity.
